One Size Fits All Robes

For my wedding my best woman gave me this beautiful robe. It’s so soft and has big, fancy kimono sleeves. It is a really thoughtful gift and so beautiful. 1.1

Ok, here’s the thing. I generally hate robes.  I just don’t like to sit around without clothes on. Also, one size does not fit all. It really sucks when you go to put on a roomy-looking robe and then it doesn’t close. Sadly that was the case with my new robe. Instead of returning it, I decided to do a little altering! Here’s how.

Wedding Dress into Hair Flower

A family member asked if  I would like to use some sew some pieces of an old family wedding dress into the hem of my dress for a “something old.” I don’t really subscribe to all of the things “blue” and “old” that you are supposed to have for a wedding, but I thought there might be a way to honor her request and make something beautiful from a family heirloom.

This dress is from a family wedding in 1914. All of those family members had passed away before I was born so I don’t have any sentimental connections to it, but it’s interesting to see this family photo from a wedding that happened over 100 years ago!

How to Add Bra Strap Holders

I have been working on Vogue 8615 for as a bridesmaid’s dress for a 50’s type rockabilly wedding. It’s pretty much finished, but even though I brought the boat neck in 2″ on each side, it still shows my bra straps.
