And another thing I love about sewing is that I am constantly learning new things! This chartreuse fabric is one of the first fabrics that I ever bought and I am now about to put it to another use; 1/4″ double fold bias tape!
Materials; fabric marker, strips of remnant fabric (cut on the bias), 12mm bias tape maker, iron, rotary cutter/scissors, and a ruler.
Recently I visited the Denver Art Museum, or part of it, because it was huge. What a fantastic experience! Everything is great, especially their native people’s collections that mix traditional and contemporary art pieces.
They had several great shows on view, but the one I was most interested in was, “Shockwave: Japanese Fashion Design 1980’s – 1990’s. I have to reiterate that until I began to make my own clothes I never paid much attention to fashion. My sculpture background means that I am most interested in how things are constructed and the shapes they create.

There are some styles of dresses that I never wear because I don’t have a defined waist. I wear a lot of empire waists and princess cuts in an effort to create one. That’s my own brain worrying about what is flattering and how other people perceive the shape of my body. That is a whole thing! I’m learning to un-learn those worries and thoughts.
So I never expected to love the Style Arc Adeline, but I thought it looked great on Jenny from Cashmerette and Meg from Cookin’ and Craftin’. I also thought it looked pretty comfortable, so I thought that even if I didn’t love it, I could wear it to run errands and around the house on days when I don’t feel like wearing pants. (Everyone has those days!) I fell in love! I LOVE THIS DRESS! I would wear it everyday if I wouldn’t get weird looks.

I have big news! Ian and I have decided to honeymoon in London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Dublin. I spent a semester in Glasgow and London and I loved my time in both places. Ian has never been overseas and I am so excited to see him explore all these cities!
I attended the Glasgow School of Art in 2006. I wish I had taken more pictures, alas it made me feel uncool at the time. The buildings, especially the sculpture studios, were utterly fabulous. My print-making room mate had a studio in an old children’s hospital operating theater with a huge glass ceiling.
There are some colors that I have been avoiding, even as they have continued to pop up in my social media feeds with ever-increasing popularity.
Let’s start with Big Floral Prints:
I love big floral prints! I am drawn to them in fabrics and in home decor, like the beautiful floral wallpapers below.
Yet, I have never purchased a large floral print for anything. I guess my biggest fear is that I will end up looking like I am wearing a mumu.
